The key charm of Shimla, The Ridge, is not anything but a wide spread open space from where you can observe the true beauty of the queen of hills. It is a perfect place to spend the evenings. Situated within a close proximity with other main areas such as The Mall and Circular Road, it is also the main place of local celebrations as well as tourist activities. It connects Scandal Point to Lakkar Bazar, the famous market of Shimla for wooden craft. Staying here gives you an unique opportunity to enjoy stunning scenarios all day long.
One of the most famous tourist attractions in Shimla, Christ Church is situated right on the Ridge. It is located just 2 km from Shimla Railway Station and a few meters from Inter State Bus Terminal. The Mall also has a close proximity with it. The second largest church in the entire northern India, Christ Church is famous for its architectural style. If you want to have the major places of Shimla to be covered on foot, consider staying near this place for sure.
Circular Road is one of the major roads in Shimla. Located at a mere distance of just 100 meters from the Ridge, it is also an extremely advantageous place for staying from sightseeing point of view. Kalka Railway Station
Kalka Railway Station is the major railhead of Shimla, and is connected to Shimla Railway Station (90 km) via a narrow gauge line. So it is suggested to stay near Kalka Railway Station if and only if you are willing to take a toy train ride to Shimla every time. It is around two and half hours journey but no doubt an experience for lifetime.
The air-gateway of Shimla, Jubbarhatti Airport is located some 23 km from the heart of city. There are regular flights to and from Delhi, Mumbai, Jammu and Dharmshala.
